The story seemed better for a 4 or 5-year-old but the reading level more for a 7 or 8-year-old. This is a cute book I purchased for my 5-year-old grandniece. It's a little over her head right now but she likes that it's a big girl book and wants to read like a first grader.
I used it in a rehab group teaching children helping behaviors and was able to also use it for educational enrichment. And at the end of the story there are educational tasks included that tie back into the words and grammar used in the book. The story is excellent because of the nearness to reality. It has a great lesson that all children need to know - helping behaviors are always good even if they do not turn out as we expect.
i really suggest all kids to read this book. And I think that they would really enjoy this book becasue it teaches them a lesson and parents will want them to read it becasue it shows how to help your parents. This book was about a son who had to help his mother with all the house work becasue she sick and his uncles and aunts are coming over.He volenteers to help and he is stuck doing all the house work and he ends up making a bigger mess then when it had started. At least in the end he was only trying to help.I would recommend this book to anyone 6 and above because they would understand it better.
